Now Hiring: Enhanced Peer Mentor

General Summary
The Enhanced Peer Mentor is responsible for piloting an innovative peer mentor program which
is more pro-active and patient centered than traditional peer mentoring. The Enhanced Peer
Mentor will be actively involved with those who are newly injured during their acute rehabilitation
and for 90 days post discharge. This includes all areas of rehab from OT and PT to the bi-
weekly educational series, 1:1 meetings, initial community outings, weekly support groups,
Saturday educational series, the transition home and back into the community and in some
cases, outpatient rehabilitation therapies.

The Enhanced Peer Mentor is a component of the Chapter’s Peer Mentor Program. It is the
essence of the Chapter’s mission to serve all those affected by a spinal cord injury/disease
including the newly injured, family members and the overall SCI community.
The Enhanced Peer Mentor position is a part time 10 hour/week position based out of the
Chapter’s Boston office located at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Charlestown, MA. The
position is currently funded through October 2018 with opportunities for future funding. The
position reports directly to the Chapter Coordinator in conjunction with the Executive Director.
