Join Dr. H'Sien Hayward, psychologist and spinal cord injured wheelchair user, as she addresses SCI and mental health. She will share common challenges and effective treatment options. Dr. H’Sien Hayward is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in the Silicon Valley of Northern California. She completed her bachelor's and first master's degrees in psychology at Stanford University, before completing her PhD in psychology at Harvard University, where her National Science Foundation-funded research investigated the science of happiness and posttraumatic growth, with a focus on people with disabilities. As a spinal cord injured wheelchair-user herself, she has done humanitarian work aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities around the world, taking wheelchairs and other mobility equipment to developing countries including Mongolia and Costa Rica, working with suvivors of the Southeast Asia Tsunami in Thailand, and treating genocide survivors in Rwanda. Her research has been featured in numerous academic journals, book chapters, and news sources such as the Wall Street Journal, and she currently serves as the Chair of the American Psychological Association's Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology.
